Pumpkin Masterpieces

Pumpkin carving has always been a favorite past time for me. It's just a symbol of the start of the holiday seasons, the approaching cooler weather, crunchy leaves, and fun times with family and friends. Unfortunately, with that changing of seasons come the haunting feeling of finals and stress... but that's a whole 'nuther topic that i'll save for a whole 'nuther post!
Anyways, for our Family Night, our group got together and came over to our place where we split into groups and tackled our pumpkins with a ferocity that might scare some small children. haha, nah, it was really fun. We even pulled out the seeds and baked them right there on the spot. They were really quite tasty! Racheal especially liked them, i believe she could've eaten a whole pumpkin worth of seeds herself!
What fun it was to cut and carve and then pull handfuls of stringy goo onto the newspapered table. Some of the pumpkins were actually still frozen inside- which i found great humor in. We had a snow storm right around this time and most of the stores just kept their pumpkin stock outside. Those didn't have quite as much goop inside unfortunately, but they still made for great jack-o-lanterns!

I really wish i would've gotten a picture of all the pumpkins when they were all on our table, but i just didn't think to grab my camera at the time. The boys of course had a little fun with the stringy filling inside- their pumpkin had a little bit of a cold let's just say :)

*sigh* another great pumpkin season. I just love it!
