Yup, i turned 20 today (Crazy huh?).
This year i really didn't do much because we were just so busy with everything i didn't bother hosting a party. I honestly will admit i was a little bummed but this has turned out to be one of the best years yet. Why?
Well, I didn't really publicize my birthday and kept it pretty quite, but so many of my family and friends remembered and went out of their way to wish me well it was really quite touching. The traditional chorus of "Happy Birthday" from Grandma and Grandpa's house, the nice notes left on my cell phone and facebook page from all my friends at college, the beautiful poster i received from Faith, the calls i got from Justin, Uncle Randy, and my roomies, the greetings exchanged at church, the wonderful dinner over at the Fenn's house, the impossible to blow out candles on my birthday cake, it all seems so much sweeter this year. :)
Probably because i didn't ask for it, but people made sure it happened. There is just something about being loved and shown it.
Course i do love my new purse and lotions (Thank you mom and Sis. Fenn!), that was definitely a nice touch. But I don't know, it almost seems like the greatest gift i receieved was the reflection of my life i saw through everyone who ensured that i had a great birthday.
Mom and Dad: yup, 20 years of being a pain in the behind. I've learned so much from you two and sincerely hope to become just like you. I know that sounds cliche, but i look up to you both more than you can imagine. I love you and truely respect your opinions. Thanks for being my earthly parents.
Roomies: "Ah, remember last semester when..." Yup there is just too many memories made with Em and Rachael. Those were some serious good times in some extremely difficult semesters. I couldn't have done it without them! Yup, i miss them like a lot. The Lord definitely puts certain people in our lives for a reason. Their love and service have taught me so much, they are my bestest friends. :)
Siblings: Whether they are begging for a ride, or trying to get me to do something stupid, they are amazing and i love that we get to spend eternity together. All of them. Weston came in this moring and started screaming Happy Birthday, then when around the house with his loud voice proclaiming the day of my birth to anyone who would listen. Faithy-girl got up and spent a lot of time into creating a cute poster, she even included some inside jokes. Everyone was just so cool today and showed their love in their own unique way it made me realize once again what an amazing family i am in. It is both an honor and a priviledge to be related. We're just awesome like that.
I could seriously go on and make a thousand categories; one for my grandparents, my teachers and leaders, as well as each and everyone of my friends, but i'm tired and it's getting pretty late. So i'll pay one last tribute:
I know my Heavenly Father lives, loves, and knows me very personally. He is willing to let me endure a little uncertainty about the future in order for me to learn the lessons i need to learn and to reach my highest potential. He has given me so many blessings and opportunites i almost feel guilty. I have lived a very fun, happy life. I know he wills certain people into my life at very specific times so i can face life's trials and gain a better grasp on this ever unpredictable world. I have been truly blessed with amazing friends. I have the BEST family. I have lived a great life so far and can't wait to see what the next 20 years will bring. With the Lord as my guide, i certainly can not go wrong!
Oh and how did Nate wish me a happy birthday today? "You're like half way to turning 40". Ya, thanks bro. Love ya.
