Christmas Commission

The Thompson Family 2009

Way back right before the beginning of fall semester, Sis. Thompson had approached me with a commissioned family portrait she wanted done for her husband for Christmas . We agreed on a price, size, etc. and she gave me all the photos needed for reference. My goal was to get it done and hand it to her during my Thanksgiving break.
Well, needless to say, i did not have any clue as to how busy my life would get in a very short matter of time!
Thankgiving came and went and i still only had rough sketches done...
I get home... FINALLY, and i just crashed. Christmas is just around the corner so i HAVE no other option, I HAVE to get it done.

Saturday.
Monday.
Tuesday.
Wednesday...

I get the drawing done but for some silly reason, Bro. T and Cole (the youngest boy) their faces just would not work for me! No matter how any layers i add or how many times i erase and re-shade, it just wouldn't look like them!

Thursday (Christmas Eve)

This whole time Sis. Thompson is very understanding and is not worked up at all that it's not done yet. She comes over around noon to pick it up and i'm still frantically working on the two faces at my make shift art table in my room. She was a great help and was able to see a few little minor adjustments i could make to make it look more like the family member. She helped critic me with Bro. Thompson's face then left with some of my sketches to go run some errans and pick out a frame. I finished Cole's face after a LOT of prayer. She returned later and I helped her with the finishing touches. She really enjoys it and was very pleased with how it turned out.

Wow, what a project! Was way fun and i really enjoyed it but oh, i'm glad it's done!
