Elder Adam Bahr

One of the proudest moments i had this semseter is when my friend Adam told me that he is now planning on serving a full time mission! I met Adam last semester in one of my dance classes (quick random story for ya: Our teacher Sis. Fisher, announced jokingly at the beginning of the semester that if anyone of us get engaged during that semeseter, they would automatically recieve an A+ because, they'd succeed in the purpose of the social dance class. Adam, who i had gotten to know, said that during the last week of school, we should buy fake rings and pretend that we were engaged- didn't end up happening as he got a girlfriend around that time... but still nevertheless just has humorous hearing about it as it would have been if we acted it out to get the grade, our teacher was serious by the way)

Adam had not been planning on serving a mission when i first met him. He was already nineteen and just didn't see a mission for him in his future. Of course, as a good friend- when appropriate, i would share a missionary experience i had or tell a story about a friend or something from my brother's mission. I'd alway encourage him to go, but he still just didn't feel the burning desire or will to go.
Fast forward a couple months. It was a Saturday when he took my roommate Alora and I to the grocery store to do some shopping, he mentioned that he was selling his truck. We both moaned about it of course, we like rides, but he didn't say any more about it. That night, we had a date together. We went to see Jim Brickman in concert, as we were walking there, Adam mentioned he had made some pretty big decisions recently wanted to tell me about it, He then told me that he is working on his papers and planning on serving a full time mission!! He was so thrilled there was a beam about him that just glowed with excitement about his mission plans!

Oh i was just beaming! I had never given up hope, but it's been so long, i just assumed he wasn't going and that was that.
So for Halloween in celebration of his rencently completed papers, he dressed up as a future missionary. :)
What joy i had to be invovled in helping a friend make it out into the mission field. I know for sure i was not the only one helping him make this decision, but still, just to be a part of it is pretty worthwhile. He stills stops by my cash register now and again to update me on his mission paper process. Can't wait to hear where he is going to be called. I wish him well as he turns into Elder Bahr.
