ScootchaRoo!

Documenting our first attempt at making this delectable treat that Gary and Lisa's family is so famous for. You'll see why this is blog worthy by the end...

Step one: add sugar and corn syrup to pot and bring to a boil, then add peanut butter.

Alora: I don't have corn syrup
Kacie: I don't either
Alora: Let's use regular vegetable oil as a substitute
Kacie: ...ok?

Bring to a boil?

Looks more like fried sugar rocks...oh, that right! It is!~ Oops

Lesson learned: Vegtable oil is NOT a corn syrup substitue.

Ummm... ok
Let's see if there is something we can substitue for corn syrup on the internet..

Ah ha! We found a recipe! Oh, it calls for cream of tarter- let's check the neighbors cupboards!
Success! Tina and Jamie's apartment had some.

Ok, let's try this again shall we?
It worked!

Ok, where were we? Ah, that's right. Bring sugar, "corn syrup" to a boil, add peanut butter and rice crispy's.
Ah, now that looks better

Press into pan (is it supposed to be this dry?)

Melt chocolate and butterscotch chips (yum!)

spread on top

hmmm... i don't think it made quite enough...

(checking recipe)

Ya, we did it right...
ok, melt more.

We give up!
The chocolate didn't cover, the cookie part just fell apart into crumbs and created such a huge mess that it must be eaten with a large spoon! Not exactly a scotcharoo.

Ah well, making memories right? ;)

lesson learned: ?
I guess the recipe just HAS to have real corn syrup! ;)
picky, picky...

Now who's doing dishes?...
