Sadie's 2009
Theme: Dress as Opposites
Dress as opposites? how am i supposed to do that? I'm sure they don't allow cross-dressing here at BYUi... :)
So laying in bed a few nights before the dance i start writing down different opposites that i came up with
young/old
black/white
happy/sad
fancy/plain
hot/cold
Then faces showing emotions popped into my head and then came up with MIMES! It was a very simple idea and i could just tell him to wear all black and bring a hat. It worked out very well; though i did feel a little gothic as i was pulling out all the black and white clothing i owned...
My amazing roommate Clarrisa is into the stage and costume department here on campus. I asked her about face paints and she said she has access to white gloves and white cake makeup (the stuff they use for clowns, etc.) She was a wonderful help and help me do Josh's makeup- i tell you what, it's a hard task to put makeup on a male. Josh was a great sport and enthusiastically let me paint his face. What a good sport.
We got to the dance and the students were happily commenting on the creativity of our costumes. Unfortunately the ticket people were more reluctant and debated on whether or not face paint was allowed, eventually it was decided that it was against school policy and we had to wash off all our hard work. :(
Ah well, a little bummed about that. But we did still have a great time dancing and people generally got what we were after that, though someone did ask Josh if he was Michael Jackson...
