Meet the Teachers!

Rolling over in bed half asleep, dad comes in to remind me to take the kids to meet there teachers at 9am, not a problem, right? So i crawl out of bed planning my schedule around work, helping robin, hanging out with Heather, etc. This "meet your teacher's" thing should be quick enough, so i help the kids get ready and were off. We met Faith's teacher first. As soon as we walk in her teacher starts calling me mom, and giving me things to take home and fill out, etc.

"Ok mom, if you could just fill out this paper (she hands it to me) and put in that basket (she points), and i need you to explain how your child will be getting home each day... etc."

Well Faith and Jake are busting a gut telling her i'm just "big sister", and she seemed to understand, but she couldn't stop treating me like i'm there mother.

"Here is a list of our procedures, sit down and read them with your sister and ask me any question you may have...."

(questions?... what questions? The rules are written for a 3rd grader to understand them and i'm supposed to have questions? :) Ha ha ha! That's crazy!) :)

It was a very interesting few minutes for me. :) She's great for the younger kids and i'm positive she'll be great with Faith, but put her in a high school setting and she wouldn't last 5 minutes! (Come to think of it, i had this crazy math teacher in junior high who had a red poof for hair and wore pantyhose with pants that would talk to us like we had the brain capacity of a goldfish,....but that's a whole different story, she's was a strange one...) :)

A odd experience; needless to say i was glad to get out of there a few minutes later.

Jacob's teacher was not a problem, she's already had a few Birtcher's in the past and knew immeadiatly that i wasn't mom, but in fact a sister. Ahhh... the relief, this would be easy. Well after meeting both there teachers (Weston is now in Junior High, not at Hale Elementary anymore) they decided they wanted to meet all there previous teachers. Not a problem, i was curious myself to see what happened to some of my old ones too, so we were off. Most of the teachers were too engulfed with parents to talk much to either Faith or Jake, just a quick hug and a couple comments. Well, we were waiting for a good while for this one teacher to notice Faith's efforts to visit with her when i saw this lady from our ward, she later told me she saw me, thought it was me, but was shocked to see me with two little ones. She kept thinking i wasn't old enought to have a 2nd grader and a whole bunch of other nonsence. Even the people i knew, that have been in the ward long enough to know me thought i was a mom!

Last time i take the kids to Meet Your Teachers! It just causes too many weird experiences!

Okay that is so funny. I feel like I'm hardly old enough to have a kindergartner...who would be nuts enough to think you're old enough to have a 2nd grader? You must be putting out a mature vibe. ;) That's great that you took them. When you have a kindergartner of your own someday, you'll be ready!
