Fireworks in IDaho.

As usual with my totally amazing ward family, we got together for an amazing Fourth of July BBQ bash! (Only in Idaho would it be celebrated on Saturday to show reverence for the sabbath) Now, it is widely known in these parts that Idaho Falls puts on a fabulous display of fireworks every year (It has been called the best fireworks show passed the Mississippi, i know many of you would like to debate, but really, it truly is an incredible show)

The party started way early (1pm). Brad, Alora, and I didn't end up getting there till round 6 but it was still hopping. They were way smart to start so early though, my goodness, the roads were PACKED with people- camped out with their sofas and blankets. It was a very exciting atmosphere. They had set up a badminton net and had a stereo blasting some favorites/classics. Tom Little had bought $300 worth of explosives from the fireworks stand and had fun lighting those off (a bulk of it is going to be set off tomorrow for another spontaneous ward gathering). We had games and food. It was so nice to have such a carefree afternoon. Nothing really planned, just some fun games and spending a lot of creative time together as a group.

Nothing screams "America" like apple pie! MMMmm...mm... good

Absolutely wonderful weather. We sat around and played under these gorgeous red trees that just glowed orange in the sunset.

Haha, yes! i know what your thinking. This is my boyfriend. We have been dating for... oh.. about 2 weeks now? Officially anyways. He's from Missouri, Saint Louis area, history buff, served in the Portland, Oregon Mission. Loves the outdoors, good testimony, funny, considerate, Greek, tall, dark hair,... ya. Please no jumping to conclusions, we JUST started dating! But needless to say, it's been very fun and exciting! Been enjoying spending time together and getting to know him more.

It really was a spectacular show, i even teared up a little bit to some of the lyrics broad casted over the radio. I truly am PROUD to be an American. We have been so blessed as a nation. It's been neat seeing the Lord's hand all throughout the history of America. The firework show was as every bit of a spiritual experience as it was a celebration. I really enjoyed it.
Well, after all that wonderfulness we had to deal with some INTENSE traffic. Let's just say, that from I.F. to Rexburg, it's only about a half and hour or so. This night, it took us just under 2.5 hours to successfully navigate the mayhem and back to our homes. We were late for curfew even though we left in good time. Funny thing was, everyone was so polite to each other, i didn't see hardly any road rage even though it was a frustrating situation. I was impressed even with Brad as he helped others and worked his way around the parking lot making sure we'd all get out of there safely and in good time.
Came home and crashed. Man, fun times. Can't get enough of them.
I love college.
