Brian Walton, my very funny Canadian friend, asked me to go on a date where we would go exploring the ice caves this past Wednesday! Great! I love the ice caves! I've already been once so I was excited to go again. I bundled up accordingly and grabbed my flashlight and Brian picked me up at 7:15pm. There was Devon and Trevor and their dates and us.
So as we're driving to the cave site, Devon (sitting in the back) gets off the phone and says to Trevor, our driver, that we past the marker just a little over a half mile back. Not a problem right? So we just turn around and head back towards the marker. We find the road and take it- only to find that it wasn't the road we were looking for because there was this giant fence we ran up against. So we turn around and go up the road a bit, only to find out 15 minutes later that that wasn't the right road either. We drive out, and take another road only to discover we already went down that one. By this time we've driven approx. 1 hour and 45 minutes so we decide it's a lost cause and turn around.
Oh, don't get me wrong. It was still way fun to just sit and talk and make jokes, play games, etc. I got to know Brian, Devon, and Trevor a little bit more and two other really nice, fun girls that i didn't know before. :)
So on our way back we decide that since the sand dunes are along the way, we should just go out their and play for a while. So along the road we find a sign pointing to the right stating that the dunes are this way. So we take the road and drive for a while. We can just vaguely distinguish the rolling hills of sand just off in the distance. We're driving, and driving, and driving... through residential streets, and farms....
"Ah! Let's just go get ice cream!"
So we again turn around for the 5th time that night and head back into town. Brian suggests an ice cream/ frozen yogurt place and we go try and find it... Once again, we were going in circles and can't find it! Brian finds a familiar land mark and tells Trevor to park and we'll just walk a little ways over to it. Well, we get out only to loop the block unable to find it... :)
So we just stopped at the Coco Bean Cafe (Hot chocolate place) and warm up with really good hot chocolate. I got a white chocolate raspberry coco and Brian got a created mixture of vanilla bean with mint or something like that. We also got a "Better than Whatever" cupcake which was really good. :)
So we had a way fun adventure by driving approx. 55-60 miles in one night to no particular destination! We did get a great view of the stars and city lights though!
Afterwards, when Trevor dropped Brian and i off, we got to my dorm room and pulled out my laptop and watched an episode of The Office and a few funny youtube videos. Sarah watched The Office with us, but gave up trying to play the no homework game and went back to studying. (Such a good example- I should follow) :)
Honestly, these are the sort of date's that i'll always remember and look back on and laugh at. :) Making Memories!
