College, college, college...

Wow, there is never a moment when something is not going on around here... i mean seriously! For our weekly devotionals, they spend maybe 8 minutes of it just going through all the activities that week. There never is a dull moment around here!

My classes are great! I'm taking an Intro to Visual Arts class (lecture) where we go over the many different types and eras of art and how it influences our everyday life. It's really fun and i've learned a lot in just the couple days so far. I'm excited to learn.

I'm taking a very good Book of Mormon class, it's very demanding in the sheer amount of studying and writing we have to do. Not that it's super hard but it does take a lot of meditating time which i've never had, so it takes some getting used to. But so far, the spirit has opened up the scriptures so i find it fascinating with all you can find in just a couple of verses. It's changing my perspective on scripture study- in a good way. :) Looking forward to the times i get to spend one on one with my scriptures and the spirit. I'm going to grow so much from this class.

My last class is a college algerbra class that has been ridiculously easy thus far. My teacher is brand new at this school (it's his second semester he's taught so far) and hasn't quite perfected his teaching method yet, but he's patient and totally open to advice from his students on how they learn best. It's just been very funny because our first day, he went over the stuff we did in like 5th or 6th grade, Weston could do it and call it easy. So we've been pretty bored thus far, but i'm not complaining. :) I know it will probablly get harder as we go on.

Well, I have enough food in my apartment to feed a third world country... twice. My family made sure i was well stocked. :) Been eating very heathy (besides my roomate's left over cheesecake) and my friend and i have hit the gym everyday since Tuesday. Our goal is to loose the Freshman 15 rather than gain the Freshman 15. So far, it's looking in our favor. :) We have a free abs workout class tonight at nine. (Oh yah, that's another funny thing. So the sun doesn't go down till around 9:30/10pm here. So there is life on campus till around 10ish- a little weird since i'm used to it going dark by 6:30/7 at home.)

The weather turned rainy and cold these past couple days. We've had persistant cloud cover with random spurts of rain which made everyone pull out their hoodies and jackets. You can totally tell a native Idaho person because they're walking around campus with t-shirts. Oooo... that's cold.

Oh, one of Justin's friends that graduated the same year at Mountain View and went to the MTC together (different missions, he went to the Mexico City Mission), is in my math class and came up to me today and asked if Justin was my brother and if I knew Kenny Goladay. He said he heared from Kenny that the Birtchers were here and then recognized my last name from class yesterday when we introduced ourselves. It was fun to make the connection. :)

Well, I'm still alive. check back tommorrow.

Kacie- it sounds like a fabulous place to be!! Aren't you glad you listened to the Spirit when it prompted you to go to BYU idaho and followed it through? Now you are enjoying the fruits of that obedience and the Lord still has great things in store for you there!!! Sounds like you were made for college life!!! :)

Love ya,
Robin :)

I LOVE seeing these posts about life at BYUI. Makes me nostalgic about my freshman year (my personal favorite year) at BYU. Your room looks so great! And that roommate of yours really does look like Tiffany! Enjoy the BofM class. I felt like I learned so much in my college religion classes...probably as much as I have in the 8 years since graduating combined! Thanks for sharing a glimpse into college life.
