Wow, how amazing! A fairy tale night in a nut shell. My dress was fabulous! If i do say so myself; thank you, thank you, thank you Carly! For starters, my date was Sterling Tracy. He's a really fun guy- in my DE Anatomy class- sits behind me- very cute, sweet guy. He was quite the gentleman, ok as much as a teenage boy can be. :)
Ok so I'll start at the VERY beginning (don't worry I'll try to condense)
Pre-Dance
A few hours before the dance as any girl, i start dolling up. Mom insisted i let my hair straight and i thank her for that, it turned out so beautiful with my little twisty diamond flowers in the back! So with that done, mom sits me on my bed and persists to do my make-up. Gobs and gobs of it!
She would put some on, decide that she doesn't like it, take it off and adjust it. It turned out perfect though! She was going for the striking eyes look. Thanks mom!
Pick up
Sarah Jackson (my official roommate now!) came to pick me up and we start practicing getting in cars with full skirts. Very funny. See picture below. It's a girl ask guy dance so we had to pick up the boys.
So we do the whole exchanging of flowers thing, personally the most embarrassing part of the entire date (next to the door scene, but I'll get to that later! oh such fun stories to tell.). The rose the store made for me was the largest rose I've ever seen made for a butenier (spelling?).
We nicknamed it the rose on steroids because it refused to stay in place...
... not even with me, his mom, or the photographer who tried several times to pin it!
The Date
We had the most amazing connections for this date.
Chelsea's mom was more than willing to let us into her picture perfect house (like the one's you only see in catalogs), and was excited to take our pictures for the dance. Turns out she has quite the knack for photography. She's make us all Cd's so we can print out what we want instead of paying ridiculous prices at the dance. Haven't seen them yet, but can't wait!
Then for dinner, oh my goodness! Maureen Davis' family has connections with the restaurant Tia Rosa's and was able to get all 18 of us free dinner, dessert, plus drinks! It was unbelievable! The food was remarkably good and we all had a great time.
The Dance
The music this year was much better than year's previous.
Night Activity
We went to Alli's house where we had a roaring fire in her fire pit in the backyard right next to her pool. It was gorgeous. Her parents put those candle things that can float in the water all over the pool. So romantic and pretty! :)
(poor sterling, I guess i just wore him out too much) :)
We roasted marshmallows and just hung out by the fire till curfew.
Our Goodbyes
(aka: The door scene)
He he he
Since both my date and my friend's date live at the same house (he's rooming with his family so he can graduate with us at Mountain View) it was going to be kind of awkward. So we dropped of Linndsey and her date first, warned them that he had to bless the sacrament tommorrow, drove around the corner then switched places. :)
When it was my turn to drop off my date, we got out, just started talking casual, "Thanks for coming with me, i had such a great time," etc.
(The rest of our group was making their way around the block to give us some "privacy")
So we had a little time to kill so we just talked about the date.
How the little old couples at the restaurant were so funny in complimenting us, how his rose just was far too big, how fun the day activity was, etc.
As soon as i saw the car's headlights, i turned to him and very seriously said,
"Well, i guess all we have to do is kiss."
and i paused, waiting.....
.... he was like, uh....
(oh how i wish i could have gotten a picture of his face! It was priceless!)
...then i reached into my purse and pulled out 3 chocolate kisses.
He started laughing! Oh it was so funny!
So i gave him the whole bag and told him technically he could tell his mom we "made-out"
:)
Good old Mormon fun!

Okay, now that is funny. The dress really was a princess ball gown, love it. And your date is cute and looks like he was a lot of fun to hang out with. When you get your photos, do post 'em!
