Party at the Birtchers'!

So every year i hold an annual Christmas Party for my friends. We make the date, buy the snacks..... make more snacks, dress up the invites, pass out the invites, decorate..... the works. My guests were required to bring a white elephant gift and two candy bars (any size) for a couple of really fun games we do every year. Well... here's were it gets interesting.

I invited 15.... ended up with +30.

Yah, a couple of my guests invited everyone the knew. It really wasn't a big deal... except they were supposed to bring the stuff. Yah, good thing we did the white elephant game at the begininging with the original 15. The candy bar game got a little crazy though.

About 3/4 of my friends remembered their candy bars, so we ransaked the pantry and found just enough for everyone.... that is until the doorbell rang. Then we had to have daddy run to the store.

He bought 15 giant chocolate bars, and we still were short. It was crazy, but we made it through. :) I thought actually having invitations would stop the flood of party hoppers but it didn't. They were all people we knew (Except for this one girl who has been over 3 times now with a couple of my other friends, but i have not the faintest idea of who she is...) but don't you think it was kind of rude? I'm not saying i was mad... I had a blast! But what's your opinion on party hoppers when invites were passed out?

You are the queen of the social scene, aren't ya? I say, if there are actual invites, then party-hopping is a no-no. But if it makes for a rager of a party and all the more fun, then bring on the guests...but make 'em stop first for their OWN candy bars.

I totally agree with Erin on this one. Maybe next time your invitations should read, "by invitation only"... but only if you actually want to stop the party-hopping... it sounds like you had a good time regardless!!! :) um... hey, where was my invitation? Darn it...it must have been lost in the mail :)hee hee hee
